Terms of Service

Agreeing to do business with pk&Coop means you agree to the following:

COSTS

INITIAL CONSULATION: It would be free, but the internet can be a playground for pranksters, so we charge $1 for a 30-minute chat to talk through any questions you have. We’re not rigid about the 30 minutes, so don’t worry if you have a lot of questions. And we’ll refund you that dollar if you hire us.

WEBSITE DESIGN SERVICES: The price for initial design options (2) including discovery, architecture, and design for homepage plus two additional pages is $800. After a design option is selected, the standard rate of $50/hour for design services will be billed for design work including but not limited to additional design, buildout, updates, revisions, and launch. pk&Coop will provide an estimate of additional hours for approval prior to work beginning. No additional hours will be billed without prior written consent from the client.

SEO COPYWRITING/EDITING: The standard rate for SEO copywriting, and editing is $60/hour and includes headlines, body copy, backend SEO copy, content writing, email writing, and editing of copy provided by the client. pk&Coop will provide an estimate of hours for approval prior to work beginning. No additional hours will be billed without prior written consent.

EMAIL CAMPAIGNS: The rate per email blast including one design and scheduling is $100. Copywriting or editing can be added on. The monthly rate for ongoing email blast management is $300 for up to five e-mail blasts, including design, scheduling, copyediting, and subject line/preview writing. Copywriting can be added on. Please note that pk&Coop does not handle list management beyond importing lists provided by the client.

LOGO DESIGN: Logo designs are $1,800 for two options. Additional options are billed at $200/hour.

TUTORIALS: Our goal is to make you the master of your own website so you can save time and money in the future. To that end, the initial tutorial is free with an approved website design and will be conducted post-launch. The initial tutorial includes an overview of the website’s functionality, how to set up an e-mail and complete an e-blast, how to post to your blog, and how to update links on your site. Should you need additional tutorials including refreshers, training new people, or learning new functionality, those sessions will be billed at $50/hour. Squarespace is easy to use, it has a robust help feature, and really great customer service.

SUPPORT/VIRTUAL WEBMASTER: Standard rates apply to requests for support depending on the service required.

Virtual Webmaster is a monthly retainer, and is available at varying rates depending on the level of service requested and the term of contract. Services in the monthly retainer may include: SEO updates, email campaigns, blog maintenance, additional pages, additional integrations/functionality, strategic planning, and priority support. Never included are logo design (additional cost) and list management (a service we do not provide).

EXTERNAL COSTS: External costs include things like domain registration, hosting fees, images, additional software, and/or any assets or services that do no come directly from pk&Coop. All external costs (including any not listed here but required to complete client work) are the sole responsibility of the client. In some cases, pk&Coop may front external costs and bill the client after obtaining written client approval for the purchase. No external costs will be billed without prior written consent. All external costs will be billed without mark-up if reimbursed within 30 days. After 30 days, pk&Coop will charge the initial cost plus 100% each month until the cost is reimbursed.

PROCESS

THE PROCESS: DISCOVERY then DESIGN/COPY then REVIEW then DESIGN SELECTION & REVISIONS then 2ND REVIEW then 2ND REVISIONS (if required) then APPROVAL then LAUNCH.

POST LAUNCH: TUTORIAL then HAND-OFF and/or SUPPORT and/or VIRTUAL WEBMASTER retainer.

Deviations from the process will be billed at standard rates depending on the service/s required.

TIMING: We work quickly, and will always work to meet your deadline. Actual timeframes for delivery vary depending on several factors including initial input from clients, availability of brand assets and images, length of client review, number of revisions requested, and turn-around time on client deliverables including payment. We will set clear expectations for delivery based on all of these factors and provide timing updates as necessary along the way.

OF NOTE

SEO (Search Engine Optimization): Basic SEO is part of every aspect of our designs and copy, and is included. Ongoing SEO services are billed at our hourly rate. We offer no guarantees about your Google ranking because the algorithms change frequently and because smaller enterprises experience less website traffic as a matter of course, and often invest little or nothing into advertising. Strategically, ranking at the top in a Google search might not be a goal that fits your small business, but if it is, we’ll get you off to a good start and we can help you find companies that specialize in that.

IMAGES: Client-provided images are subject to rejection by pk&Coop if they are not formatted to work within the design (file type, size, quality), or if they are not in keeping with the agreed-upon design elements. In the event client-provided images do no work, every effort will be made to source images that will work.

UH-OH: We don’t ever want you to be disappointed in our work, but in the event that you are, we’ll cease work and, if you like, help you find another service that is a better fit. Upfront payments will not be refunded regardless of the reason you decide to step away.

PAYMENT

PAYMENT: pk&Coop requires a minimum of 50% of the estimated price to be paid upfront. Work will begin only after the initial payment is received. Final payment will be required prior to launch. Additional hours will be agreed upon before additional work is started, and a minimum payment of 50% for the additional hours is required before the additional work is started.

Monthly retainers for ongoing services are negotiated with each client and are based on services requested. Retainers are billed one-month in advance. Often, but not always, a monthly retainer will result in lower costs. pk&Coop will never bill more than the agreed upon amount regardless of actual hours worked, and we likewise require payment in full from clients regardless of actual hours worked. Non-payment will result in a cessation of work.

All payments are processed online securely.
